The most important number is the gap between a realistic repair total and a realistic replacement total. Include labor, shipping, downtime, accessories, and any extra parts you are still likely to need.
Good repair territory: when the repair total is clearly lower and the fault is isolated. Bad repair territory: when the numbers are close and the diagnosis is still uncertain.
When the symptom is clear, the part is known, and the repair total stays far below replacement cost.
When the quote is moderate but the diagnosis is still fuzzy or multiple parts are involved.
When board-level risk is high or the total cost gets too close to a replacement console.
